Suntuitive Dynamic Glass Explained
Natralight is always committed to providing the latest products to our customers, which is one of the reasons we have started supplying self-tinting glass known as Suntuitive Dynamic Glass.
For this blog, we will look at some of the benefits of this type of glass and explaining how it works in greater detail.
How does Suntuitive work?
Suntuitive Dynamic Glass is based on thermochromic technology, with the heat-activated by the direct sunlight causing the window tint (as necessary). These elements are embedded in a polyvinyl butyl (PVB) interlayer, which is then laminated between two pieces of glass with the laminate incorporated into the final product - a dynamic insulated glass unit (IGU).
Thermochromic Dynamic Glass Technology explained
During the day as the sunlight heats the Suntuitive Dynamic Glass, the heat from the sunlight will warm the window. The PVB interlayer becomes warm and darkens, which creates a tinting effect over the window. As the sunlight recedes, the glass and interlayer cool, which returns the glass to a clear state.
How does it perform?
We have split the performance of Suntuitive glass into six sections -
Visible Light Transmittance (VLT) - Suntuitive glass continually adapts to changing sunlight conditions. Throughout the year, this adaptive technology automates the amount of visible light let into a building by significantly tinting when needed during adverse weather.
Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) - Suntuitive's thermochromic technology adjusts to direct sunlight during the day, optimising solar control and minimising solar heat gain.
U-Value - This type of glass has all the benefits of dynamic glass whilst retaining those of conventional high-efficiency insulated glass unit, as its low U-values prevent heat loss.
Energy Savings - Using Suntuitive glass reduces the heat load of the building and could save up to 43% on energy bills, according to industry statistics.
UV Protection - It blocks 99% of harmful UV light
Noise Reduction and Safety - Suntuitive's laminated construction provides noise reduction plus added safety benefits.
